The Lord Jesus Has Redeemed Mankind, So Why Would He Do Judgment Work When He Returns in the Last Days?
2,000 years ago, the Lord Jesus incarnate was crucified to redeem mankind’s sins, acting as a sin offering and completing His redemption work. He promised He would return in the last days, so all believers have been watchfully awaiting the Lord’s coming, and think that as believers in the Lord, all their sins have been forgiven, and He no longer sees them as sinners. They think they are fully ready, so they just need to wait for the Lord’s return so they can be taken up into His kingdom. That’s why people are always gazing at the sky, waiting for the day He suddenly appears on a cloud and takes them up into heaven to meet with Him. But to their great surprise, they are watching the great disasters begin but still haven’t welcomed the Lord. No one knows what’s really going on. Even though they haven’t seen the Lord come on a cloud, they have seen Eastern Lightning giving consistent testimony that He has returned as Almighty God incarnate. He has expressed truths and is doing the work of judgment beginning with the house of God. Almighty God’s appearance and work has rocked the entire religious world and inspired a tremendous backlash. God incarnate’s work of judgment is far out of line with people’s notions and imaginings. Many are asking: The Lord Jesus already completed His great work of redemption, and God has called us righteous, so why would He need to do judgment work in the last days? They feel that’s not possible. The religious community is even resisting and condemning Almighty God, refusing to look into His work, all while eagerly awaiting the Lord on a cloud to rapture them up into the kingdom, hoping to escape the great disasters. However, God’s work is vast and mighty and no one can stop it. Almighty God has made a group of overcomers and the disasters have begun, while the religious world sinks into disaster, weeping and gnashing their teeth. Since they weren’t raptured before the disasters, they’re placing their hopes on it happening during or afterwards. Why didn’t they welcome the Lord before the disasters? Where did they go wrong? Did the Lord Jesus break His promise, failing to take believers into the kingdom before the disasters, utterly disappointing them? Or did people misunderstand biblical prophecies, trusting their notions that the Lord would come on a cloud, refusing to hear God’s voice, and so failing to welcome the Lord and succumbing to disaster? Everyone is now feeling very confused about why the Lord hasn’t come on a cloud and raptured believers before the disasters. Today, I’ll share my personal understanding of God incarnate’s work of judgment in the last days as the Son of man.
Everyone familiar with the Bible understands most biblical prophecies foretell two things: The Lord will return, and He’ll perform judgment in the last days. These two things are actually one thing, though, which is that God will come in the flesh in the last days to do His judgment work. Some are sure to ask if there is a biblical basis for saying this. Of course there is. There are plenty of Bible prophecies about these things—200 or more. Let’s look at an example, like in the Old Testament: “He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people” (Isaiah 2:4). “For He comes, for He comes to judge the earth: He shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with His truth” (Psalm 96:13). It also says in the New Testament: “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God” (1 Peter 4:17). The Lord Jesus also personally prophesied He would return and perform judgment work in the last days. The Lord Jesus said, “If any man hear My words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. He that rejects Me, and receives not My words, has one that judges him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day” (John 12:47–48). “For the Father judges no man, but has committed all judgment to the Son” (John 5:22). “And has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of man” (John 5:27). Revelation prophesies: “Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come” (Revelation 14:7). These prophecies are very clear in saying the Lord will return as the Son of man and do the work of judgment in the last days. There is no doubt about this. We can see that the Lord Jesus clearly prophesied in the Age of Grace that He’d return in the last days as the Son of man for His judgment work. Revelation clearly prophesies, “for the hour of His judgment is come.” These prophecies show that the Lord is incarnating as the Son of man in the last days, personally coming among us to do the work of judgment. This was clearly planned long ago by God, and no one can deny this. Almighty God has expressed truths for the work of judgment, He has uttered so many words and made a group of overcomers. This shows that these prophecies have been completely fulfilled. Now let’s take a look at the common religious belief that the Lord has completed His work of redemption, so it’s impossible He’ll do judgment work in the last days. Is there any biblical basis for this? Did the Lord Jesus say this? Not at all. Such ideas are nothing but human notions and imaginings—they are wishful thinking. They run completely contrary to the prophecies in the Bible, and none of God’s words support them. This thinking is utterly asinine! Why can’t people earnestly seek the Lord’s words and the prophecies in the Bible, but instead insist on judging and condemning God’s work of the last days because of their own notions? Isn’t that arbitrary and arrogant? The Bible contains so many prophecies about the coming of the Son of man and the judgment in the last days, so why don’t people see the Scripture right before their eyes? Just like the Bible says, “By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them” (Matthew 13:14–15). The wise should seek and investigate why God does the work of judgment in the last days, why it’s the Son of man who appears to work. We have to answer these questions before we can truly understand the Bible prophecies.
Now let’s look into why the Lord incarnates again for the work of judgment after redeeming mankind. Almighty God has already unveiled this mystery. Let’s see what Almighty God’s words say about this. “Though Jesus did much work among man, He only completed the redemption of all mankind and became man’s sin offering; He did not rid man of all his corrupt disposition. Fully saving man from the influence of Satan not only required Jesus to become the sin offering and bear the sins of man, but it also required God to do even greater work to rid man completely of his satanically corrupted disposition. And so, now that man has been forgiven of his sins, God has returned to the flesh to lead man into the new age, and begun the work of chastisement and judgment. This work has brought man into a higher realm. All those who submit under His dominion shall enjoy higher truth and receive greater blessings. They shall truly live in the light, and they shall gain the truth, the way, and the life” (The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. Preface). “For all that man may have been redeemed and forgiven of his sins, it can only be considered as God not remembering the transgressions of man and not treating man in accordance with his transgressions. However, when man, who lives in a body of flesh, has not been set free from sin, he can only continue to sin, endlessly revealing his corrupt satanic disposition. This is the life that man leads, an endless cycle of sinning and being forgiven. The majority of mankind sin in the day only to confess in the evening. This way, even though the sin offering is forever effective for man, it will not be able to save man from sin. Only half the work of salvation has been completed, for man still has a corrupt disposition. … It is not easy for man to become aware of his sins; he has no way of recognizing his own deeply rooted nature, and he must rely on judgment by the word in order to achieve this result. Only thus can man gradually be changed from this point onward” (The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. The Mystery of the Incarnation (4)). Almighty God’s words are very clear, aren’t they? The Lord Jesus redeemed mankind in the Age of Grace, so why would He return for judgment in the last days? It’s because the Lord Jesus only finished the work of redemption, completing just half of God’s salvation work. This achieved redemption of man’s sins, so we are qualified to pray and fellowship with the Lord, and enjoy His grace and blessings. Our sins have been forgiven and we enjoy the peace and joy given by the Holy Spirit, but we’re still sinning all the time, stuck in a cycle of sinning, confessing, and sinning again. No one can escape the bonds and constraints of sin, but we live struggling with it. It’s painful and there’s no way to be free. This shows that though the Lord forgave our sins, our sinful nature still exists; our corrupt disposition still exists. We’re likely to rebel against, resist, and judge God at any moment. This is an undeniable fact. No matter how long someone is a believer, they cannot escape sin and achieve holiness or be worthy of facing God. This entirely fulfills the Lord’s prophecy: “Not every one that said to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of My Father which is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, and in Your name have cast out devils, and in Your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from Me, you that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:21–23). And it says in Hebrews 12:14, “Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” We can see here that only those who do God’s will can enter the kingdom of heaven. But why did the Lord say those who preach and cast out demons in His name are evildoers? This might be confusing for a lot of people. This means that they proclaim their faith, but they keep sinning and haven’t truly repented. No matter how much they’ve preached or exorcised in the Lord’s name, how many miracles they’ve done, they don’t have the Lord’s approval. In the Lord’s eyes, people like that are evildoers. They may do things in the Lord’s name, but this is an insult to the Lord that He detests. Are these people, whose sins are forgiven, worthy of entering the kingdom? Absolutely not. They’re still dreaming of the day the Lord will come to take them up into the sky. This is a human fantasy. Clearly, the Lord Jesus prophesying His return didn’t mean He’d take people straight up into the sky to meet with Him, but that He would carry out judgment and cleanse people of their sinful nature and corruption, that He would fully save us from sin and from Satan’s forces, and take us to a beautiful destination. This is the meaning of God’s judgment work in the last days. Now I’m sure we can all see that the redemption work in the Age of Grace was just to redeem us of our sins, so our sins are forgiven. This just completed half of the salvation work, and God is doing a greater step of work in the last days. On the foundation of the Lord Jesus’ redemption work, Almighty God is expressing truths for the last days’ judgment work to fully cleanse and save mankind from sin, to free us from Satan’s forces. Here we can see that the Lord Jesus’ redemption was entirely paving the way for God’s judgment in the last days. It was foundational work. And Almighty God’s work of judgment is the most critical step in God’s management plan to save humanity and will conclude the age. Only accepting the Lord Jesus’ redemption work without accepting Almighty God’s last days’ judgment work means stopping halfway on the path of faith, and the last step is the most critical one that will determine our fate and outcome. Not taking this step truly is giving up halfway and a waste of all previous efforts. I think everyone understands that the final part of a journey is often the hardest. This last phase in your path of faith is the most important that will decide your fate. For believers, what decides our outcome and fate is God’s judgment work of the last days. If people won’t accept this, they will be eliminated by God; that’s really a tragedy. So we can be sure, no matter how long someone has been a believer, if they won’t accept Almighty God, God will eliminate them, and they will be a foolish virgin who falls into disaster weeping and gnashing their teeth. Plenty of previous unbelievers have directly accepted Almighty God’s work and gained God’s salvation of the last days. These are the fortunate ones and they make up for those believers who refuse to accept Almighty God and are eliminated. Wouldn’t that be the greatest regret for believers? After all those years of waiting for the Lord, they see Almighty God doing the work of judgment and expressing so many truths but refuse to accept that, instead pig-headedly waiting for the Lord to come on a cloud, making this bet with God. Ultimately they’ll lose their chance at salvation. Wouldn’t that be tremendously sad for a believer?
Some may ask how Almighty God does the work of judgment and cleansing to fully save mankind. There is so much to fellowship on the truths related to this, so today we can just scratch the surface. Almighty God says, “Christ of the last days uses a variety of truths to teach man, to expose the substance of man, and to dissect the words and deeds of man. These words comprise various truths, such as man’s duty, how man should obey God, how man should be loyal to God, how man ought to live out normal humanity, as well as the wisdom and the disposition of God, and so on. These words are all directed at the substance of man and his corrupt disposition. In particular, the words that expose how man spurns God are spoken in regard to how man is an embodiment of Satan, and an enemy force against God. In undertaking His work of judgment, God does not simply make clear the nature of man with a few words; He exposes, deals with, and prunes over the long term. All these different methods of exposure, dealing, and pruning cannot be substituted with ordinary words, but with the truth of which man is utterly bereft. Only methods such as these can be called judgment; only through judgment of this kind can man be subdued and thoroughly convinced about God, and moreover gain true knowledge of God” (The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. Christ Does the Work of Judgment With the Truth). Almighty God’s words are very clear that His judgment in the last days is mainly to judge mankind’s corrupt essence by expressing the truth, to expose our corruption so we reflect and know ourselves, and see our own corruption. Then we feel regret, hate ourselves, and hate our flesh, leading to true repentance. This judgment work isn’t done just by expressing a few truths for people to understand, but God is expressing many aspects of the truth. All these truths are to judge, expose, prune and deal with mankind, also to test and refine us. Particularly God’s words that judge and expose man’s corrupt essence incisively reveal humanity’s satanic dispositions, and our nature and essence. Reading these words is so poignant, and they go straight to our heart. We see how deeply corrupt we are, that we’re not worthy of being called human. We have nowhere to hide, and we want to burrow into the cracks of the earth to escape God’s wrath. Going through this judgment is the only way to see the truth of our own corruption, then we’re filled with regret and know we’re unworthy of God’s blessings, of being taken into His kingdom. Being so corrupt, we’re unworthy of seeing God. Without God’s judgment and chastisement, we’d never truly know ourselves, but we’d just give lip service to confess our sins, without knowing we’re living entirely by satanic dispositions. We’d keep rebelling against and resisting God, and still think we can get into heaven. It’s shameless and delusional, totally lacking self-awareness. Those of us experiencing Almighty God’s judgment and cleansing have true firsthand knowledge that His words are the truth, that they’re priceless! Only the truths expressed by God can cleanse our corruption and save us from sin. Only experiencing the judgment of His words can cleanse and change our corrupt dispositions, so we can become those who do God’s will, and worthy of entering the kingdom. Almighty God’s judgment work of the last days is what brings us the way, the truth, and the life. It’s through Almighty God’s work that we can gain the truth and life and live before God, which is a tremendous blessing from God!
At this point in our fellowship, I think most of us understand that God’s work to save mankind is not nearly as simple as we’d thought. It’s not just redeeming us and forgiving our sins and that’s it, but His work of salvation is to fully save us from evil and sin, to save us from Satan’s grasp so that we can submit to God and worship Him. The work of judgment is the only way to achieve this. Now Almighty God has expressed so many truths and is doing the work of judgment. This work of His is absolutely tremendous, and beyond compare! Almighty God’s words have shaken the entire world and rocked the universe. God’s great work in the last days has all eyes on it and it has shocked the world. All who love the truth are investigating God’s work of the last days, and only those who don’t love the truth turn a blind eye and disregard God’s work. But God’s work will never be impacted by the religious world or unbelievers. It moves forward, unstoppable. In the blink of an eye, the great disasters have begun and God’s work of judgment in the last days is at its peak. For His followers, it’s judgment beginning with the house of God, perfecting some and eliminating many. For others, it’s using disasters to gradually handle the evildoers who resist God, bringing this evil age with Satan at the reins to a complete end. Then we’ll welcome and enter into a new age, in which Christ’s kingdom is realized on earth. Those who are still longing for the Lord to come on a cloud will fall into disaster, weeping and gnashing their teeth, fulfilling Revelation’s prophecy, “Behold, He comes with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him” (Revelation 1:7). Almighty God also said, “Many people may not care what I say, but I still want to tell every so-called saint who follows Jesus that, when you see Jesus descend from the heaven upon a white cloud with your own eyes, this will be the public appearance of the Sun of righteousness. Perhaps that will be a time of great excitement for you, yet you should know that the time when you witness Jesus descend from the heaven is also the time when you go down to hell to be punished. That will be the time of the end of God’s management plan and it will be when God rewards the good and punishes the wicked. For the judgment of God will have ended before man sees signs, when there is only the expression of truth. Those who accept the truth and do not seek signs, and thus have been purified, shall have returned before the throne of God and entered the Creator’s embrace. Only those who persist in the belief that ‘The Jesus who does not ride upon a white cloud is a false Christ’ shall be subjected to everlasting punishment, for they only believe in the Jesus who exhibits signs, but do not acknowledge the Jesus who proclaims severe judgment and releases the true way and life. And so it can only be that Jesus deals with them when He openly returns upon a white cloud” (The Word, Vol. 1. The Appearance and Work of God. By the Time You Behold the Spiritual Body of Jesus, God Will Have Made Heaven and Earth Anew).
